Love Without End
Today I am writing to celebrate a friendship, honour a presence, and soften the weight of an immense absence.
My beloved little cat left this world a few weeks ago. Unexpectedly. Painfully. Tragically. The moment shattered my heart. I wasn't ready. Not even close.
For a while, my breath seemed to stop, trapped between the fear that I hadn't done enough to save her and the despair of knowing I would never again hold her, stroke her soft fur or lose myself in her eyes. A knot in my chest. A quiet disbelief. A grief too deep for words.
When we love deeply, we grieve deeply.
And yet, if I had the chance to choose again, I would choose exactly the same love. Every single time. Because the pain of losing someone can never erase the privilege of having loved them.
Ours was an extraordinary relationship, woven from everyday companionship, shared laughter, endless games, long journeys together, quiet moments and countless cuddles.
Chiquita was an extraordinary companion.
Independent, determined, adventurous, endlessly curious, talkative, sensitive, sociable and incredibly affectionate. A whole universe wrapped inside a tiny body.
I carry hundreds of precious memories of us in my heart. A love as pure and unconditional as only an animal companion can offer.
Today her absence feels unbearably heavy. The house sounds different. There are corners that still seem to wait for her, and small gestures my body still makes without thinking.
And yet, beneath the silence, I can also feel another truth. This separation is only temporary in appearance. I believe too deeply in the miracle of Life to think that everything we shared could simply disappear. Its form has changed. Its essence has not.
And when my heart finds its balance again, I know I will still be able to feel her presence. Not with my eyes. But with my soul.
Today, above all, I want to thank her for her physical presence beside me. For bursting into my life as a tiny ball of fur and quietly transforming it forever. For being such a loyal, constant and faithful companion. For her independence, her dignity and her endless curiosity.
She was a little talking cat. A perfect therapist. Everyone loved her beauty and quiet elegance, even though she had once been nothing more than a stray.
Through her I learned to honour the spirit of animals. I learned to share my home with someone who was always present without ever demanding anything. I learned to care without controlling. To love without possessing.
Along the way, I know I made mistakes. But I also know that because of her I learned to love differently. More maturely. More consciously. More respectfully. And, at the same time, more completely than I ever thought possible.
Dear Chiquita, you filled my life with a richness that words will never fully capture. You taught my heart a different way of loving: freer, kinder and more genuine. You arrived as a tiny bundle of fur... and you left tiny paw prints everywhere. Across the floor of my home. But even more deeply, across my soul. I hope you are now running freely, chasing every colour of the rainbow that guided you home, with the same joyful curiosity that filled every day we shared together.
I will keep looking for you. Not with my eyes. But with my heart. Because you taught me something I will carry for the rest of my life: love never learns the meaning of goodbye.
I love you. Endlessly. Always.
